Smart Track’s X2 Blade Housing is a minimalist version of Smart Track Race/Ski rear rudder assembly. This version features the same extended tiller (rudder blade is further back to allow for mounting on narrower pointy race kayaks and surf ski’s, but is made of a plastic housing on a metal Tiller plate (and metal bayonet pin). This set up also does not allow for a rudder raise (uphaul) cord to be used or fitted, but it is typically not used or required with smart tracks spring loaded rudder blades when used in race kayaks or Surf skis. If you do require an uphaul choose the all metal Race Version. This is a bayonet style fitting but can be used on blank holes with use of a set screw to hold the rudder in place (This no bayonet method is common on some ski’s from Gen 1 & 2 Epic and other models from other brands). Bayonet Fittings can be added to your existing ski and are available here Typically Small Ski/ Race Smart Track foil rudder blade will be used with rudder housing, but all 3 sizes will suit. There are a fair number of different Smart Track Rudder Options- if you are replacing a damaged version it is safest to use the same model. Model names should be written on the rudder housing (making it easy to figure out) but if that is worn or if you are not sure here is an explainer of the different options and models. DOES NOT COME WITH RUDDER BLADE- Typically most use this shorter foil blade but any of the three original foil blades will fit. All extremely rugged and corrosion proof extruded alloy parts are machined for precision fit, and coated with Teflon® 6061-T6. SmartTrack X2 Mount uses a bayonet pin to attach to your kayak so will require the appropriate hole with internal locking bar to secure it, although it can be fitted to a blind hole with a set screw and washer set up as well.
