Smart Track Rudder Blade Housing- Original Rear Mount

Smart Track’s Rear Mount Rudder Blade Housing makes it quick to raise and lower the blade with this tiller and rudder box assembly, due to an internal leverage-rod. It protects the blade in an upright position when not in use and has adjustable spring tension that keeps the blade down in the water when in use. This version the SmartTrack Rear Mount version installs on kayaks with a vertical, flat section on the stern of the kayak using a bracket. You will need to purchase a blade as well (for new installs) There are a large number of different Smart Track Rudder rear assemblies, they most importantly differ in the way they attach to your kayak. Find the correct shape to mount to the rear of your kayak. Do not assume that this is the correct smart track mount for your kayak- check. There are a fair number of different Smart Track Rudder Options- if you are replacing a damaged version it is safest to use the same model. Model names should be written on the rudder housing (making it easy to figure out) but if that is worn or if you are not sure here is an explainer of the different options and models. A Smart Track Original Rear Mount Bracket is included with this rudder blade housing. The Original Rear bracket is the longer thin 2 hole Version of the smart track bracket (Other versions of the bracket include the 4 hole version (compatible with this housing) and the compact bracket. (Compact bracket is not compatible with this housing use the Long pin housing if you have that bracket) This bracket mount is often used on home/hand made kayaks including skin on frame models. Other mounting options may be more difficult to fit or concentrate the stress in a weaker area of the construction. a rear mount can fit directly to the wooden stern in these kind of builds. Hole Spacing on the Original bracket is 3.8 – 5 cm (1-1/2″ to 2″)  centre to centre The mounting holes are ovalised to allow for variation in mounting bolt positions Necky kayaks often have brackets that will fit the Rear Mount Blade Housing. Northwest Kayaks may use the same hole spacing as the bracket on this rudder rear assembly. This is the rear assembly that holds the Rudder Blade only, it does include the Smart Track CRW for attaching rudder steering cord or cables – It does not include the rudder blade, steering cord (or cables) or foot rests. These can be purchased separately but because often only a small section of your rudder will need to be replaced if damaged and because there are lot of options they are not included as standard.
