Pack of 10 load spreading (peel) rivets, commonly used to secure canoe gunwales to canoes particularly the Venture models. Style: Dome Head Material: Aluminium/ Steel Dimensions: 4.8mm diameter x 25mm Grip Range: 19-24 mm These differ from our other spreading rivets, they have a single layer that peels apart the hidden part looking a bit like a flower, rather than 2 layers that fold and compress. These are not generally regarded as waterproof rivets- The internal shaft may pull out completely leaving a hole. These should not be used when a waterproof seal is required, (you can plug the hole with a goop e.g. silicon). For this reason we suggest the spreading rivets when a heavy duty securing mechanism is required in a blind situation* as they will have a sealant on the shaft and the shaft doesn’t pull through *Blind i.e. no access to the internals/ inner side, so you can use a nut and bolt because you cant reach both sides. Common examples are attaching a handle on a ski or end of a long kayak etc.
