Marlow 1.5mm Dyneema cord suits rudder cables. High strength, lightweight. Polyester cover and Dyneema® core long-lasting no rust or stretch, however it can be used in many other places including in repair kits as lashing material for temporary fixes. Commonly used as a replacement for Stainless Steel Rudder cable, it can be used to replace other brands of cord used in rudders. Phenomenally strong and incredibly light, Dyneema is a high density polyethylene polymer. This cord has an inner core and an outer cover; the Dyneema core provides all the strength and the polyester cover (in 16 or 32 plait variants) protects the core from abrasion. The Dyneema cords are very tear resistant, stretch very little and are UV-inert (so won’t weaken from sun exposure). The breaking strength is 120 kg (125daN) and at just 1.7g (1.5mm) per metre are ultra lightweight. There is a lighter thinner marlow cord available here (braided no sheath more flexible) We do stock other styles of cord suitable for rudders including OEM cord for Wilderness Systems, Dagger and Perception branded kayaks (Solid Grey colour slightly larger diameter, stiffer with different sheath).
