The full length butt cage provides a secure hold for your rod but may not suit all butt and reel styles. The Sleeve will lift up with the rod in it so you don’t have to reach forward when removing your rod. This is easier to remove your rod from the holder even when you have a fish on. Rod Holder can reversed for ease of left or right hand use of the Thumb screw to adjust the vertical angle. The Rod holder inserts securely into the deck mount in use and is secured using a bayonet style fitting. A slot in the deck mount’s opening allows a key tab on the rod holder’s mounting pin to pass and insert fully. A small turn of the rod holder (once inserted) prevents the holder from pulling out. The rod holder can be locked into any position in its left right rotation (except 3:45 on a clock face where the key slot is). This position won’t slip or rotate due to the matching indexes on the mount and holder which hold it in position- nothing to work loose. Lifting the rod holder slightly (but firmly) will disengage the locking “gears” and enable you change the angle but will not let the holder be removed unless lined up with the keyway. The angle of the rod Holder (Up and Down) is adjusted using a plastic stainless steel thumb screw. This is held in position by index slots so the position will not slip even under load once secured. Mounting Options Deck Mount is normally fitted to the deck using 4 screws. Depending on your kayak may fit onto already installed inset threads or may require a through fitting drilled into your craft (Bolt into a Nut and washer under your deck). In some cases self tapping screws may be used. We recommend use of a rod leash with all rod holders
