The handle is attached to the kayak or canoe by a length of cord (typically 3mm not supplied) that passes over the shaft the screw in embedded into. To fit place the cord in position between the two rigid plastic pieces and screw them together. No need to fiddle about threading a cord through hidden holes and corners. Use of Deck bungy can be made to pull the cord tight when not in use to stop it rattling on the top of the car or on the water. Generally not suitable for side carry handles. We suggest an alternate handle for side lifting for example our webbing and rubber version. Pop securely together with an internal lip that on one piece interfaces/ clicks inside the other piece to reinforce the already strong handle.
