Mad River Canoe Gunwale Screws 10 Pack Black Posi Drive Head 4 x25

Pack contains 10 Screws These screws are useful for other projects but are typically only used to attach canoe gunwales to the hull of the canoe (in Canoe/kayak context). To use a powered driver (Drill etc) with the correct driver bit will screw into and through the outside of the gunwale, through the canoe hull and into the metal insert in the interior of the madriver gunwale. Note other brands of gunwale may not feature this metal insert so another method to secure the gunwale to the canoe may be preferred. No preparation is required once the gunwale is in the correct position on the canoe (no pre drilling etc) Some Mad River canoes are fitted a robertson drive head version (imperial). These are interchangeable with these screws for this purpose (with the exception of the actual driver bit (or screwdriver) required for installation) The typical Madriver Canoe will require 70 /- of these to secure both gunwales (quantity needed depends on length of canoe). 4 screws are also used for each end plate/ canoe deck/ plastic bit on the end of the mad river canoe that has the handle (4 longer rivets with washers are also required for these plates). If replacing a screwed on gunwale you will likely be able to reuse most of the existing screws, if replacing a riveted Gunwale do yourself a favour and swap over the the screws its much quicker and easier. Using the screws requires seating the gunwale onto the hull and then using an electric driver to screw straight into the gunwale through the hull and into the other side of the gunwale. No Sharp ends will protrude and it is typically very quick and easy. Posi Drive head screws look a bit like phillips head but aren’t, Robertson head screws have the square hole in the top not the cross shape. Yes I look forward to your letters!  ( I know that they are both cooler than phillips head and you can dive into it yourself if you want to be nerdy about mechanical stuff and or history…suffice to say use a posidrive screwdriver or screwdriver bit and these will go in easily. If you use a phillips head you may strip some screw heads.
